Style from Stockholm

This image from Stockholm Street Style is my next victim. Ominous, right? But seriously, I know what you are thinking...
How am I going to pull this off? There are some outfits that only work in the moment, and the picture above definitely one of them. Therefore, I tried to capture some of the effect in my (drum roll please) exact replica!!

...I know. It is not quite the same. But I did try to capture the same sort of (excuse my cheesy word choice here) essence here. I even threw in a headscarf (!) for no extra charge! The thought to put a scarf on my head like this never occurred to my before this, but it thankfully did not result in me looking like a Jack Sparrow imitator.

That being said, I still feel a bit better about my variation of the photo.

The first thing was to rip off that head scarf. Although I did not look like Jack Sparrow, I did look a bit bald, so I figured it would just be for the best.

Next, I retrieved the best-shoes-in-the-world-no-really-
they're-awesome-no-seriously-really.  I figured the outfit could use a bit o' pizzazz.

Elettra Avenue

Day one! Feeling encouraged, but decided to start with something pretty simple.

Of course, Elettra Wiedemann (totally had to Google that spelling) does not make anything simple. There is no way I can compete with her insane features and leggy stature. However, I do remember a snakeskin-printed top from last season stashed away somewhere in the Closet of Death.

Ah! Here we are... I am actually quite a fan of this top, although the repulsive heat of the last few weeks has made it impossible to wear anything but tissue-paper-thin dresses, which of course leaves one concerned with how easily the world behind one could be flashed...but what in the hell else would one put on? I am getting off track... above is my "exact replication" of Elettra's look, save, like, everything. I even threw in a fake sultry look nothing like the gorgeously blank expression Elettra gifted us with. I'm going to try to save face and blame it on the sandals, because truth is flats leave me looking like Snow White's eighth dwarf, Stumpy

I feel a little better about the pictures below, as these are my own variation of Elettra's outfit, made to complement my non-Elettra-like body.

.
First, I kicked off my Stumpy sandals and replaced them with black boots that would actually give me a bit of height and play as a much better neutral.
Next, I ripped off the only pink belt I have and instead put on my absolute favorite, which, by a serendipitous twist of the universe, has a snakeskin design. I love pink/orange contrast, so I kept the pink lipstick on.

Not bad for a first go at it, eh?

Ideas A Brewing!

As I wasted through the hours of my summer day flipping through Julie & Julia, an idea struck me (unusual for a summer's day, I know). Fashion is my cooking; Coco Chanel my Julia Child. Soooo, why not make a blog out of it? I sorted out the details while alternating between The Bachelorette, Masterchef, and America Ninja Warrior... I never said I had a life.  Here's the plan: I will find a picture of a lovely outfit, then replicate it using the junk in my closet, plus whatever I may be able to afford along the way. If you happen upon any great outfits, send them to me! I will do my best to accommodate, save any emergencies like broken heels, laptops with dead batteries, or death-defying heat (in that case, God save us). Tomorrow begins the fun!  Brace yourselves.

Sail the Deep Blue Sea

shorts - American Apparel; tee - Hanes; necklace - Forever 21; lipstick - Smashbox

Ahoy! Whenever I wear these shorts, I feel like going for a sail. Of course, once in a sailing situation, I am completely ill and terrified... Anyway. How do you like the lipstick. If you are an observant reader you may have noticed me wearing it in all but one post. I have never been a makeup lover, but this beautiful shade of pink has turned me around. It stays on for hours through food and drink. Interested? Try Smashbox Be Legendary Matte in Electric Pink!

A Bug's Life

Bug Trend: Terrifying or Cool?

I happen to adore the trend, even though bugs make me.........skittish. The colors and interesting/repeating pattern drive me crazy!
Why helloooooo there!
...and a little frolicking never hurt anybody. The painful expression only enhances the fun!

tee - zara; cutoffs - UO levi's; wedges - h&m

I completely adore these shoes, I recently had to replace my old leopard standbys as they looked something like this. Well... sort of.

Interesting fact: while writing this, a bug came flying in front of my face and I ran away, screaming. Is that an answer to the question? You decide.

 Welcome to 24/7 Dress Up!!

I am Delaney, and I truly adore fashion. For me, clothing is not a meaningless and material, but instead a way to express oneself.  I have been told - on numerous occasions - that I dress up too often, or dress too fancily, but I think such is impossible! I hope to connect and inspire on this blog, and hope you will enjoy the show.

See you soon!
